You may take Doxycycline 200 mg one time to prevent Lyme disease if it is within 72 hours of a tick bite (attached tick). Please indicate that on your form.
If you simply want the bite checked, you may be able to text or e-mail a picture for evaluation. If you are outside of the 72 hours, you will need to monitor for any flu like illness for 30 days but antibiotics are NOT indicated. Antibiotics are not needed for a local reaction that is less than dime sized. There may be an irritated area for 4-6 weeks. Other tick borne illness would show symptoms of headache, fever, rash, light sensitivity, arthritis feeling and if you have those, you should get checked out in person. |
